FREE Pre-Concussion Screening
Carroll College nursing students will be offering
Free Pre-concussion Screenings
for HAYHA Players through the Mobile Health Unit on
Monday, October 6th & Tuesday, October 7th
from 4:00–8:00 p.m.
Screening will take place in the outdoor picnic area of Steed Arena. Consent form required (see below).
The assessment takes only about 10 minutes, and licensed nurses along with a physician will be on site overseeing the process and supporting the athletes. Parents do not need to be present for the screening; however, a signed waiver by a parent is required (attached).
Pre-concussion screenings give athletes a takeaway baseline document to compare against if they ever obtain a head injury. A best practice is to save a picture to a phone or keep the document in the player's hockey bag. This makes it easier for coaches, parents, and healthcare providers to recognize a concussion and know when it’s safe for kids to get back in the game. HAYHA is excited to be able to offer this valuable resource for the hockey community.
